RESCUES

Offering love and support to animals that need it.

Rescue Cat

Habanero

Homeless with a shattered leg and fractured pelvis from a gunshot wound, he needed help. CALM approached an NFP for help, but they determined the best course of action was euthanasia.

CALM reclaimed Habanero and took him to a private animal hospital where vets did everything necessary to give Habanero the chance at a high quality life.

CALM covered the cost of surgery, and provided Habanero with shelter and wellness services during his 8-week recovery period.

Today, Habanero has fully recovered and is a happy tripod cat living his best life in a loving home  found for him by CALM!

Rescue Cats

Sugar and Spice

Rescued as homeless kittens, Sugar and Spice were given their names based on their unique personal traits. CALM was able to utilize a local animal NFP for their spay and had hoped they could be adopted out and placed in a home through the NFP.

The NFP performed the spay but made the determination that the kittens were too feral and beyond the adoption period for placement in a home.  CALM reclaimed them and worked on their socialization skills until a potential home could be found—-and now they are both in the same home with a loving pet parent expressing their distinctive personalities everyday.

Wafer

One summer night, this adorable boy crossed paths with a caring human. Malnourished and thin, Wafer needed help. Thankfully, he allowed himself to be captured and fed! After weeks of consistent care, a local vet gave him a clean bill of health (along with a few vaccinations). Today, he's a happy, healthy boy enjoying a home where he's spoiled rotten.

Vulnerable Animal

Blue Eyes

Named for her sapphire blue eyes, this girl was found emaciated and very weak. CALM was able to get her a vet appointment for the next day, but her condition didn't improve, so a second visit was scheduled. X-rays revealed fluid in her lungs, which led to a diagnosis of Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP), a respiratory disease that's typically fatal.

But CALM had no intention of giving up on Blue, and continued to care for her, feed her, and provide daily fluids via syringe. Eventually, after a LOT of care and love, she started to get better. She ate and drank on her own, and didn't seem as weak. The real surprise came later when CALM walked in for an evening feed and found Blue with a litter of three kittens!

It's unclear if Blue actually had FIP, or if she was experiencing difficulties with nourishment and pregnancy, but nonetheless she recovered beautifully and is doing great!

Rescue Cat

Mr. Cuddles

The name says it all—a rescued homeless cat with so much affection to share! A cat with this much love definitely deserved a home, so CALM went on a mission to find him an animal-seeking human.

Shortly after being rescued, CALM brought Mr. Cuddles to a vet where a serious health issue was discovered. He had a urinary blockage that would be fatal if left untreated. Thankfully, CALM was able to provide for his short hospital stay and the procedure that addressed the blockage.

Mr. Cuddles went on to find a home, where he's kept on a strict prescription diet under the watchful eye of a loving human. Though his condition could reappear, it has been almost
two years with nothing but cuddles from this adorable cat!

Rescue Cat

Scrappy

At the time of his rescue, Scrappy was an 8-week-old kitten living outdoors with his mother and litter mates. Scrappy was found one morning badly beaten with a deep cut on his head, bite marks on his face, a bloody eye, and bite marks on his legs, one of which he couldn’t use.

CALM immediately got him the emergency veterinary care he needed. The animal hospital determined Scrappy had a skull fracture along with a fractured and broken hind leg. Thankfully, his bite wounds were not severe and the vision in his bloody eye was not impaired. He was treated for his injuries and given a very good chance at a full recovery because of his young age and natural kitten healing power!

Scrappy was lucky to have been rescued and treated right away so he could make this full recovery. As the name suggests, he bounced back from his injuries and is now a rambunctious adult cat living his best life in a loving home.

Rescue Cat

Left Eye

Left Eye was a community cat that was thought to be pregnant and only had one good eye, which put her at risk for survival and could hinder her ability to care for any new kittens.

The plan for her rescue was to provide a spay and abortion, but before she had her procedure, she birthed two healthy kittens! Sadly, when she was spayed to help curtail the overpopulation of homeless cats, her vet discovered that the injury to her right eye seemed 99% inflicted by someone rather than a natural event. Today, Left Eye is provided with temporary shelter until she finds the human she deserves.

Silk & Satin

The two starlets featured on CALM’s homepage are just too adorable for words! Rescued as homeless kittens, they were socialites from the start. CALM cared for these two (and their mom) outdoors until it was safe for them to live on their own. Because they came out ready to mingle, it was not hard to connect them with their human. Today, they still enjoy being at the center of attention and receiving constant affection from their human. They love to reach out for hugs and to be cuddled, while showering their human with wet noise kisses in return.

Minx

It's hard to believe he was once a homeless cat. Others just like him are often overlooked and viewed as insignificant or a danger. Minx was a community cat being cared for by CALM. Over time, his personality bloomed and CALM realized he had the sociability and temperament to be placed in a home. In 2023, Minx and his pet parent met through a CALM Connection and now, as seen, he is living his purrfect life!
